Stephanie Kang, President

Contra Costa County Deputy District Attorney

 

Stephanie Kang is a Deputy District Attorney in the Contra Costa County District Attorney's Office. She received her B.S. and B.A. from the University of Southern California and received her J.D. from UC Hastings. There, she served as Internal Political Chair for APALSA, Secretary for the Hastings Public Interest Law Foundation, a published member of the Hastings Race and Poverty Law Journal, and a Student Coordinator/Competitor for the Hastings Moot Court Board. As APALSA's Internal Political Chair, she led an initiative successfully convincing UC Hastings to award honorary degrees to Japanese American students whose legal education was interrupted as a result of World Ward II internment. Stephanie is currently an alumni coach for UC Hastings moot court teams.

Rahul Gupta, Vice President

Orange County Senior Deputy District Attorney

 

Rahul Gupta is a Senior Deputy District Attorney in the Orange County District Attorney’s Office. He received his B.A. in History from UCLA and his J.D. from Notre Dame Law School. He started his career as a corporate litigator and then as an account manager for an internet company. He is currently assigned to Major Fraud – Cybercrime. He frequently teaches courses involving the intersection of technology and the law for the California District Attorneys Association (CDAA). He is also a leading expert on social media evidence and presents regularly on the topic, including for the California and Nevada State Bar. He also sits as a board member on a variety of community service organizations to support underserved members of the community.

Kevin Ikuma, Secretary

Alameda County Deputy District Attourney

 

Kevin Ikuma began his career as a prosecutor in 1996. He worked as prosecutor in various assignments including the felony trial staff unit until 2006. In 2006, he left the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office to work as a criminal defense attorney. While a private attorney, he served as President of the Asian Pacific Islander American Public Affairs Association and Treasurer of the Women Lawyers of Alameda County. Kevin rejoined the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office in 2015. He is currently assigned to the felony preliminary examination team.

Sharon Carney, Treasurer and Immediate Past President

Alameda County Deputy District Attorney

 

Sharon is a Deputy District Attorney in the Alameda County DA’s Office. She received her B.A. in History and Political Science from UCLA and her J.D. from UC Hastings. She began her career as a Deputy District Attorney in Sacramento County before coming to Alameda County. She has worked on the Felony Trial Team prosecuting serious felonies including sexual assaults, robbery and homicides. She has also worked on the Human Exploitation and Trafficking Unit where she prosecuted cases involving sexual exploitation of minors, and taught courses for other law enforcement agencies regarding the prosecution of human trafficking cases. She has served as a mentor on the California District Attorneys Association (CDAA) Sexual Assault Mentor DA Program and taught courses for CDAA regarding Human Trafficking.

Annie Esposito

Alameda County Deputy District Attorney

 

Annie is a Deputy District Attorney at the Alameda County DA’s Office. She is currently the Assistant Branch Head in the Pleasanton office. Before that, she was the co-team leader of the DNA/Cold Case Unit where she prosecuted cold homicide cases. Her prior assignments include Felony Trial unit where she tried homicides, and General Felony Trials where she tried serious felonies including robbery, sexual assaults, and homicides. Before joining the DA’s Office, Annie worked in real estate and the stock brokerage industry. She is currently a member of several bar organizations and serves on their respective Judicial Endorsement Committees. Annie is also a board member for local and regional community outreach organizations that focus on empowering Asian Americans in the political arena. Annie served as the President of AAPA from 2011-2014.

Ron Tran

Contra Costa Assistant District Attorney

 

Ron Tran has been a Deputy District Attorney at Contra Costa County for the past three years.  He received his B.A. from the University of California, San Diego, and his J.D. from the University of San Francisco, where he graduated cum laude.  While in law school, Ron served as an intern for the Honorable Ronald Quidachay, an extern for the United States District Court’s Pro Se Department, and a law clerk for the Contra Costa District Attorney’s Office.  Ron was a published author and a Board of Editor for the USF Law Review, a Board Member of the Asian Pacific American Law Student Association, and competitor on the USF Mock Trial Team.

Marshall Khine

San Francisco Assistant District Attorney

 

Marshall is an Assistant District Attorney for the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. He obtained his B.S. from Cornell University and his J.D. from California Western School of Law. He has been assigned to almost every trial unit in the Office and has managed the Domestic Violence Unit, the Mental Health Unit and the Sexual Assault Unit. Marshall currently serves as the Chief of the Criminal Division.

Michael Carney

Riverside County Deputy District Attorney

 

Michael Carney has been a Deputy District Attorney for 11 years in Riverside County, where he has been the Trial Team Leader of the Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Unit and is presently the Trial Team Leader of the Gang Crimes Unit.  Michael graduated from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law and was a summer law clerk at the Alameda County District Attorney's Office.

Peter Kim

Riverside County Deputy District Attorney

 

Peter Kim is a Deputy District Attorney with the Riverside County District Attorney's Office.  Peter graduated from Loyola Law School in 2006 and began working with the Riverside County DA's Office that same year.  He has spent the entirety of his legal career at that office and is approaching his tenth year as a Deputy District Attorney.  Peter is currently assigned to the Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Unit.  During his career as a prosecutor, he has served in various assignments and has prosecuted a wide range of crimes including domestic violence, crimes against police officers, and murder.
